There’s more to wellness than just training and focusing on healthy foods. Taking a thorough look at your health— nourishing your mind, body, and soul—is vital for your overall wellness. We like to term this as self-care. Here are a couple of our favorite methods for practicing self-care.
We may be working on social distancing, but that doesn’t mean we can’t stay connected! Arrange an online coffee time or happy hour with your friends or family. Keep topics cheerful and tell each other one good thing that happened to you recently. Make plans for when you can meet again and how awesome it will be to give them a big, warm hug. Together we are more capable and can care for each other. That’s what friends are for!
Follow a Flexible Routine
Craft a plan for your yourself but recognize the need for some flexibility. For instance, get up around the same time every morning and get in bed around the same time at nighttime. Write down your intentions for the day and slate out your work assignments, but give yourself some time for your daily workout, a walk around the neighborhood, or to read your favorite book. Don’t be too harsh with your plan that you pile on needless stress. Creating a balance between a program and relaxation will help you have a more constructive and enjoyable day.
Thankfulness is good for anyone. The more gratitude we extend to others during troubled times, the better and tougher we become. Offer others grace. One of our preferred ways to offer gratitude is to contact a loved one and express to them how much you love them. A a simple note is also a welcome and wonderful surprise that is certain to make anyone’s day.
There’s not a thing better than spending time outside, breathing the fresh air. Take a walk with your pup every day after lunch. Wave hello to your neighbors (from a safe distance) and find out how they’re holding up. Hang out in the sun for a bit and focus on taking deep breaths—you will feel so much better!
Just because we can’t go out for food at our local favorites doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy our meals! Craft a new method for dinner and make your meals count. Listen to your favorite album, get the whole family involved, and have a good time with it!
